The Africa Left Networking Forum (ALNEF) has been following keenly and with a lot of concern the developments within the crisis in Syria, which began two years ago as a political unrest, but has now taken a militaristic path.
The ALNEF is also aware of the present talk and intent of some world military powers namely the United States of America (USA), France, Britain, and Israel among others to start an aggression War against Syria, with the aim of overthrowing the Assad regime, in favor of the Syrian Rebels.
This talk and intention to unilaterally start a War against Syria is worrying, especially given the fact that this will not be the first time that such a War has being launched by the USA and its allies against other countries in the world, with every intervention ending in terrible results.
The ALNEF considers any form of military aggression against Syria by the few World military powers as unjust, ill-fated and disastrous continuation of Imperialism in the world, with a potential of starting a catastrophic war in the whole Middle Eastern region.
From the experiences in Afghanistan, Iraq and Libya, the world has learnt that the best ways to resolve such conflicts in the world is through political and peaceful channels, and never through Wars of aggression that only end up making matters worse.
The ALNEF also condemns the double standards that the USA and its allies have been having in Syrian conflict, where instead of searching for a peaceful solution, they have gone ahead and supported the Syrian rebels financially, militarily, and also through their powerful propaganda machineries of world media, while at the same time commenting on the issue as if they were a neutral entity.
The ALNEF condemns any use of chemical weapons in Syria, and supports the current investigations being undertaken by the UN to establish whether Sarin gas was used, and also to establish who used them.
The ALNEF also reiterates its position that no country, or group of countries should start a War against Syria, whichever the results of Chemical weapons use investigations are, and that the UN and other respectable institutions should continue pushing for a peaceful solution.
The ALNEF also notes that while there is a consensus that Chemical and nuclear weapons pose a great danger to humanity and the world as we know it, a few countries have continued to manufacture and develop them, ignoring the constant call to rid the world of all Chemical and nuclear weapons. The fact that Britain confirmed that they have been selling chemical weapons to Syria just shows how dire the situation is.
The ALNEF would like to add its voice against the manufacture and development of all chemical weapons and weapons of mass destruction by any country, and also calls for the elimination of all these weapons.
The ALNEF insists on a Peaceful solution of the Syrian conflict, and calls for the immediate halt of external support being given by the Imperialist countries to the Syrian rebels.
The ALNEF emphasis that Syria is a sovereign country, and that no other country has the right to determine who the President or the leadership of Syria people will be, other than the People of Syria themselves.
The ALNEF would also like to laud the calls for Peace and sovereignty in Syria, from thousands of organisations, institutions, and millions of people across the globe. It is due to this continued pressure, including the internal pressure from the American people that has forced President Barrack Obama to postpone the Invasion of the USA in Syria.
