The likelihood of a direct imperialist war on Syria has been going up by the day, with the United States and its allies coming up with all sorts of justification to bomb Syria back to stone age, just like they have recently done in Afghanistan, Iraq and Libya. It is no secret that the USA and its allies; Israel, Britain and France have since the start of the conflict in Syria supported the rebels in SyriaMilitarily, financially, logistically, strategically and most importantly, propaganda-wise against a legitimate government in Syria.
What is even worse is the fact that most of these rebels are linked to the Al Qaeda terrorist network that the USA claims to fight against, and has even used as an excuse of invading other countries in the past. No government in the world can allow armed rebels, whether progressive or retrogressive as is the case in Syria, to rein havoc in its territory without itself retaliating militarily.
The claims that the Assad Army has used chemical weapons against the rebels have not been established, and even if the use of chemicals weapons is established, it will still be important to establish who actually used them. It would be stupid for the Assad regime to use chemical weapons on its people, knowing very well the repercussions of such an act, especially now that the whole world is looking at them. The US has in the past lied to the world into believing that Iraq had ‘Weapons of Mass destruction’ and hence the reason for their destructive invasion in Iraq, yet the imperialist powers raised no fingers when Israel actually uses chemical weapons to kill the Palestinian people, children included.
The USA, Israel, Britain, France and their imperialist have stock piles of Weapons of Mass Destruction, including Nuclear weapons and chemical weapons. Neither the Syrian Rebels nor the Syrian Government manufactured the Chemical weapons that were allegedly used inSyria. It is these imperialist countries that manufacture and continue manufacturing all the dangerous weapons that threaten the existence of the world as we know it.
Why is it that the USA and its imperialist allies have always opposed the demands that all weapons of mass destruction in the world be eliminated? Why do they continue to make and stockpile these weapons?
If the intention of the USA using war was just to overthrow leaders and to “protect the civilians” as they have done in Afghanistan, Iraq and in Libya, then by now they would have learnt that their Wars only cause more suffering to the people, and their Wars have failed to achieve Peace, Democracy, Human Rights and Social Progress. The fact that they continue with imposing wars on other people even with these results just proves that their interest are different from what they claim.
It is sad, that the person leading the calls for war, is none other the NOBEL PEACE LAURATE Obama, who knows very well that his War will murder many innocent people and trigger a deadly situation in the whole of middle east region. Imperialism preaches about democracy and human rights, yet in actual fact uses all means, including Wars to impose its will upon other nations. In fact, imperialism is about War.
Every country has a right to self determination and sovereignty. It is not up to the USA and its allies to determine the course that Syriatakes, or who the President of Syria will be; That is the role of the Syrian people. This begs the question; Why is the USA and its allies refusing a democratic and peaceful solution that will involve free and fair elections overseen by the International Community?
Both the US President and the British Prime Minister referred the Syrian matter to their Parliaments, instead of allowing for the matter to be discussed at the UN. What is the role of the UN, if the USA and its allies continue to use it when they wish, and ignore at the same time- with impunity?
It is not for the SDP to defend Assad or the Rebels. Our stand is to expose the lies that Imperialism is acting in Syria in the interest of theSyrian people, peace and human rights in the world. The problem in Syria is being escalated by Imperialism that is using the Rebels inSyria to destroy and weaken Syria for the benefit of Israel. That is why instead of pursuing peaceful solutions for Syria, the USA and its allies want War.
The people of Syria should be allowed to determine their own destiny.
